Celebrate the Navy’s Birthday on October 13th
Did you know the Navy has a birthday? October 13 is the Navy’s birthday. The Navy was established during the Revolutionary War, but it was disbanded and then re-established around 10 years later. The United States Navy is the largest navy in the world, with the highest combined battle fleet tonnage. The U.S. Navy also has the world’s largest aircraft carrier fleet, with over 300,00 active personnel and almost 100,000 in Ready Reserve. This October 13, celebrate the Navy’s birthday!
On March 27, 1794, congress passed the Naval Act of 1794, which established a permanent standing navy. In the 1800s, the Navy built its first three ships. Their names were USS Constitution, USS United States, and USS Constellation. By September 30, 1954, the U.S. Navy deployed the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine, called the USS Nautilus.
Did you know all who serve on submarines are volunteers? They are also among the most highly trained personnel in the military. Also, the SEAL Team 6, which is officially known as the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, are the most highly trained elite forces in the U.S. military (along with Delta Force). The Navy is a fascinating section of the U.S. military with lots of interesting history.
If you want to celebrate the Navy’s birthday this October 13, there are a few ways to do so. First, you can make a tribute to those who have served. You can also reach out to a veteran to learn more about the Navy’s history. There are even museums dedicated to telling the story of the U.S. Navy.
