Honoring our Veterans This Fourth of July
The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and it’s one of the most important holidays that we observe. On this day, we celebrate our freedom and honor the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have chosen to serve. One of the best things you can do is honor their service and their legacy. There are many ways in which this can be done, and we’re happy to share some of them with you today.
Thank You Notes
It’s been remarked before that a thank you is always free. And one of the best ways you can show your gratitude to a veteran is by providing them a note acknowledging their service and sacrifice. Whether it’s a few words or several, it’s a wonderful and thoughtful act to undertake.
Visit a Memorial
There’s A very good chance that you have a loved one in your family who served at one point and is no longer with us, except in spirit. You might already have plans and a full day of activities on the Fourth of July, but taking just a little bit of time to visit their grave, thank them, and honor their memory is a heartfelt gesture.
Hire a Veteran
If you’re a business owner and are interested in giving back to the men and women who have given their time and dedication, hiring one can be very helpful to the community and the veterans who call it home. It’s a wonderful show of solidarity and is much appreciated.
Volunteer
If you live in an area with a veterans hospital, you might want to consider volunteering some of your time. Many veterans who have returned home are suffering from PTSD, and a little bit of kindness can go a very long way.
Listen
The Roman emperor Claudius once remarked, “There are those who are hard of hearing, but that doesn’t mean it’s for a want of listening.” If you know of a veteran, no matter how old they might be, they could benefit from kindness and a sympathetic ear. Listen to them, their stories, and their thoughts about how important it is to serve.
