National Hire a Veterans Day
July is an important month for veterans. July 4 is Independence Day, while National Hire A Veteran Day falls on July 25, 2021. To learn more about National Hire A Veteran Day, read on.
National Hire A Veteran Day began in 2017. The day was founded by Marine Corps veterans Dan Caporale, who also founded Hire Our Heroes. National Hire A Veteran Day was created with the intention to be a call to action for those who hire.
The year 2017 was also the year the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) was passed. From this act came the HIRE Vets Medallion Program, which was created “to recognize employers that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to hiring and retaining veterans.”
Unfortunately, common problem veterans face is homelessness and lack of resources like physical therapy and mental health care. Days like National Hire A Veterans Day helps raise awareness of these problems and offer solutions.
To celebrate National Hire A Veteran Day, encourage employers to hire veterans. Raising awareness of the problems veterans face and encouraging others to do something about it can make a difference. In addition to raising awareness and speaking up, you can also make a donation to SRQ Vets. SRQ Vets is an organization created by veterans with the intention to help other veterans. A donation to SRQ Vets allows the organization to help local veterans receive mental health treatment, home improvements and accommodations, suicide prevention resources, education, and more.
